I thought from the description it would be a guide to better shooting with pro tips. Well, the photos are pro but the commentary is super general for complete beginners. "Some shots are better if the subject doesn't know they are being photographed." Is one example. This is useless for someone who shoots a bit and wants to take it to the next level.
I got this for ideas. Helpful tips? not so much. Nat. Geo. has very good Photographers. Help tips a vague at best. If your looking for the mechanical settings (F-stops, shutter speeds, ISO, and so on). this isn't for you. What I got out of the book was ideas I'd like to try. One could look at it like a mystery, such as how did they set this image up? What would I use? There are lots of books out there with great images. This book let me down.
Very interesting. It tells you how to upload images to Nat Geo along with people from all over the world. Editors create assignments and you submit your work. Other people look at your photos along with Nat Geo Editors. Quite a few peoples photos have been chosen to be in the magazine. It is a great opportunity even if you just photo for fun. You see and communicate with people from all over the world.
There really isn't any information on how to get the shot or how to get your images published. It's just a book about the photos themselves. Which is nice but not what I thought it was.

Great pictures with stories to accompany them. Throughout the book is great tips and tricks to achieve various images. I use a point and shoot camera, but the tips improved my vacation pictures greatly.
No complaints...good reading...and good way to support goodwill, too...
