A first love is brought about by months of music sent anonymously. I loved the simple beauty of the thought that went into each selection.

No sex, just angst, longing, secrets, revelations, desire and finally resolution. It's a great little story, well scripted and played. I see there are two more stories in this series.

This is very much a short story, but it's so sweet. Slightly geeky Luke has been pining for football jock Cameron for quite a while, but, like all teenagers, he's terrified of revealing it at the same time that he wishes he could. RJ Scott really catches that feeling of I must/I can't in this story. Being such a short story, and the fact that these two aren't actually involved, I'm not surprised at the level of...um...intimacy in the story, but the path their story takes does seem a bit too much like two girls instead of two guys. Maybe that's just me being a guy, but...we're dogs. What can I say? Regardless, it was a sweet story and worth the tiny price.

Sometimes you just need a cute short sweet story to lift up your mood, and this book by RJ Scott fits the bill.Full review here:

Merely being a teenager is difficult enough, but being one who is smart and openly gay makes life even more of a burden. It takes a special type of strength to endure the kind of torment which is launched at anyone who is different. Luke, in RJ Scott's 'Love is in the Title', handles the bullying with as much grace as possible. Not that it doesn't bother him, it does, but Luke tries to always take the high road, keeps his head down and just continues on his way, being as true to himself as he can.Luke is in the midst of his first real crush. The object of his desire, Cameron, seems to be totally out of reach so Luke worships him from afar. To honor this love, he sends Cameron messages through the universal language of music by placing requests at a local radio station. He also secretly hopes that Cam will hear these “messages” and respond.Cameron does hear Luke's message and responds by confessing that he is gay and lets Luke know that he's interested in having a relationship with him. Not having had to deal with this before, Cam is very naive; he thinks he can just step into his role as a gay man without repercussions, but Luke knows better. It hurts him to think of Cam losing his popularity and being shunned by the people who once claimed to be his friends, but' he's also hoping they can weather the storm together.I loved the way Luke and Cameron are portrayed as sweet, innocent, and guileless. I really wanted their relationship to succeed. I'd recommend this story to anyone who wants to read a sweet, but informative story about the challenges of being gay in high school. Thanks, RJ! You've touched my heart once again.Originally reviewed at Rainbow Book Reviews.

A sweet, short story about boy meets boy and boy falls in love for boy. Sweet as sweeter you cannot, since it's all about a night, and these boys have only the time to kiss and promise forever to each other... how cute they are when they are so young and innocent... but then maybe they are wiser than those adults who don't dare to love so strongly.Luke is gay and in love with Cameron. Only that Luke and Cameron move in different circle, Luke is a nerd, Cameron is a jock, Cameron is wealthy, Luke has to work to save money for college, Luke is gay and Cameron is straight... or maybe not?Luke has spent the last few months pining over Cameron, and sending him anonymous dedica over the local Friday night radio show. This Friday is not different, only that this time, Cameron seems to listen in a different way to what the radio is playing.Short but in a way complete, Luke and Cameron's story is warm and feels good. I see a bright future in front of them.

#72,730 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Formatting is off throughout the kindle edition. I bought this specifically for the annotations and the annotations (outside of the introduction, which was formatted perfectly) are not properly linked. There are no annotation numbers/links in the text at all. If I manually look at the annotations at the end of the book, they do not link back properly to their place in the text (they all link back to page 1 of the Mrs Dalloway portion of the book). I am not familiar enough with the text itself to notice if that's significantly affected, but I've already found one place where a period was omitted from the end of a sentence (when compared with a paperback version, isbn 198539412X). Mrs. Dalloway is already a challenging text, I don't need the literal formatting making it any harder for me.

For me this was less a story than an exploration of life and what it means to be human. And, by necessity, how to get the most out of the lives we live, which, as Woolf reminds us, go by in the blink of an eye.Woolf is a superb writer; perhaps one of the greatest of all time. And this may well be her best work, made all the more impressive by the fact that she used the stream of consciousness technique that jettisons many of the rules most readers are familiar with. There are no chapters, for example, and many of the most important sentences are so short and simple, by design, as to be overlooked. I won’t say it’s difficult to read but you do have to get used to it.The storyline has been well documented by other reviewers. Set in London following the First World War, we follow the day of Mrs. Dalloway, hostess extraordinaire to the “ruling class”, and the wife of an English bureaucrat in the upper crust of the British government but who will never quite grab the golden ring of appointment to the Cabinet. The achievement and the shortcoming both define him in equal measure. There is a long list of characters, many of them quite minor, but to whom Woolf devotes considerable print. That, I believe, is quite by design, because each represents a different representation of the human reality that we each, at some level, accomplish something, but that none of us ever quite realize complete and utter fulfillment. We choose who we are but can never quite choose who we ultimately want to be. It is the duality of human existence and there are no exceptions.Even Mrs. Dalloway, who has devoted her life to living in the present, faces the same existential dilemma. She is admired by some, tolerated by others, and quite disliked by a few. She is, in a word, human and, as a result, she is both defined and burdened by her duality. One of the characters is Septimus Warren Smith, a young veteran of World War I who suffers from what we now call PTSD. He is, in terms of the storyline itself, a minor character, to the point that many have questioned his inclusion. To me, however, he is a central character and the book couldn’t exist without him. And even Woolf herself admitted, when challenged on this, that he was the double of Mrs. Dalloway.Smith is central, it seems to me, because if Mrs. Dalloway hides the doubt and ambiguity of her life successfully, he loses himself to the same ambiguity quite obviously. They are quite like yin and yang, the complementary forces of light and dark, fire and ice, the masculine and the feminine. One cannot exist without the other. In the end it would be difficult to describe this work as uplifting. It is life. And life, as Woolf reminds us, despite pockets and moments of glamour, is always a bit messy and dispiriting. Life is a duality. Tragedy occurs alongside grace. Doubt inevitably accompanies hope. Can there be the joy of success without the crush of failure? All told I think this is a superb book and if you have any interest in exploring the duality of our existence there is a great deal here, in what is a relatively quick read.

This book by Virginia Woolf has been described as the greatest English language novel. That may not be hyperbole. Some sentences are so beautifully written that they beg to be read again (and again). The story is simple: It follows one day in the life of Clarissa Dalloway as she prepares to host a high-society party in London that evening. It jumps from Clarissa's story to that of several of the guests. It's a story about their thoughts and reminisces more than their actions. It's a story about the love between men and women and women and women. It's a story about the politics of marriage in the early 20th century. It's a classic!

WOOLF wrote to a rhythm more than she wrote to a plot, and Mrs. Dalloway is a perfect example of her stellar method. Is there one sentence, one word, that is not perfect? I can't find or hear one, and I have now listened to this entire recital by the wonderful Annette Bening 14 times now. Yes, 14 times. I will listen 14 more times before this notice has been up a month. There are not enough superlatives to describe Virginia Woolf's genius and talent.

I started this book a few months after my husband went on to be with The Lord. Scott, my husband, and I have always been picked on and complimented about how much we smile all the time. We didn't always realize this was God blessing us...especially in times of trials, but through Him we smiled through it all. When I started this book I called everyone I knew and told them to get it. Most did and are happy I suggested it. Now I tell you, you won't be sorry. Your heart will be lifted. Thank you Joel for taking time to write Every Day a Friday: How to be Happier 7 Days a Week. Through my days of mourning (after 42 years of marriage) my loss, I'm still smiling remembering all the blessings God gave us and seeing more pouring out over me. God is love and God is kindness. Enjoy His blessing while you get to bless others. This is a great read!!!!

Joel Osteen is brilliant! He must've researched for a very long time in the writing of this book because he has addressed every problem, challenge and obstacle that we face in every day life. This book stays right next to my bed for quick reference whenever I am feeling low. I like how he not only offers encouragement to face problems, but he offers personal stories and references the Bible to back up his advice. For some reason we tend to think that people of faith never have a bad day and to hear his personal struggles and how he rose above life's daily drama brings a positive message to everyone. God bless you Joel Osteen!

There are spiritual awareness reads and then there is Joel Osteen. Out of all the books I've read and reviewed, over the years, I cannot seem to get enough of the awesome messages he sends to his readers. Everyday a Friday assisted me with refocusing on my current situation. Often, we feel that in life that we are not in a "good place." Some of us start to feel as if we have failed in life due to not achieving personal lifelong goals. Completing this book was the affirmation I needed for this year of 2014.I am now on a daily mission to identify "a positive" attribute from the entire parameter of my being. I am learning to be happy during both the sweet and sour days of my time here on earth. The people who are in my life are the ones who are supposed to be there. Individuals who are not have simply served their purpose in my life and have moved on. In regards to jealous hearted individuals, one of my favorite sections of this book comes from chapter twenty-seven. Osteen's words are listed as follows, "When they come at you, simply say, in a humble way "I'm wearing this blessing well, despite criticism and jealously." If my friends aren't happy for my blessing then, it's time to find new friends who will celebrate with me as I celebrate with them."In life one will eventually seek for a sign or message of hope from either a self-help or spiritual read. The words enclosed within this book were just what I needed to let me know that I'm on the right path. Joel Osteen books rock!

Joel Osteen is the Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, the largest church in the world, and of course you'll truly ascertain why this is so after reading his 5 star catharsis. Joel's book is universally on point with a pragmatic message that comes straight from the Lord and is conducive when applied to everyday living. And no matter what organization you may belong to, which may include race, color, creed, sexual orientation, political affiliations, religious denominations or whether you are rich or poor, it doesn't matter this book will cause you to think about how you are living, how you treat others and if God truly rules over your life. Joel Osteen knocks it out of the park! And believe it or not this book is a primer for world peace. Unfortunately, many of us won't embrace this practical wisdom, but as a collective, if we were to embrace this message we could achieve world peace over night.Joel believes we need to change our perspective and be thankful for what we do have and to share it with others. We need to have positive attitudes when we go to work, when we deal with members of our family or when we think we are lacking things in our life, such as finding that special someone or paying off debt, or getting well.Chapter 6 deals with keeping "The Right Perspective." And that is exactly what we need to do. As Joel states, "It's easy to focus on what's wrong in your life, what you don't have, and how big your obstacles are. But if you are not careful, you will lose sight of all the good things God has done for you. Don't take for granted the family, friends, and opportunities He has blessed you with. If you're in such a hurry and so stressed that you fail to appreciate the gift of today, you'll lose your joy and ability to be happy every day of the week." In other words if you are facing a difficult situation, try to realize that it's only temporary, that God will see you through your tumultuous experience, and remember, You can do all things through Christ, He strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).Don't let the Devil and his demons steal your joy, use "the healing power of laughter" to cure your summertime blues. In chapter 20, Joel talks about the St. Joseph's Medical Center in Houston, Texas using humor rooms for patient therapy. "The St. Joseph's staff found that visits to the humor room led to many patients (checking out of the) hospital sooner because it helped relieve (their) symptoms." Laughter has a tendency to release hormones such as dopamine throughout the body, which helps with the healing process. Think of dopamine as God's heavenly prescription for pain.Overall, Joel's book prepares you for the battlefield of the mind; it will help you combat depression. Think of it this way, depending on Jesus is practical medicine, it's much better than using synthetic drugs such as Abilify, Ativan or Zoloft and it's cheaper too, as a matter of fact it costs nothing. Remember man made cures are only temporary, God's Grace is eternal. Also, Joel said in a sermon aired on Television sometime ago, "Wear your blessings well!" and "When it gets tough and things don't look like they'll work out, you can laugh by faith, knowing that God has already written the final chapter." Remember God always has the last world and He is Love personified (1 John 4:16).If we help others to achieve their goals and pursue their dreams then we are accomplishing the Lord's will and when we do that we are in sync with His purpose, we become simpatico with the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. "There is no greater legacy than to help someone else win." Also, "What makes you great is when you reach back and help somebody else become great." Joel stresses the issue of faith and charity, loving people into repentance and the pursuit of their God given dreams and aspirations. The story of Jesse Owens and Luz Long is mentioned on page 223 of this book and how they became friends in spite of Hitler and the Nazi party's racism. "I've found the greatest legacy is not what we leave for people, but what we leave in people." Luz Long invested in Jesse Owens success during the Olympics and Luz gained the most precious gift of all, a friend. We must see "through (the) eyes of love." "Instead of being critical and writing others off, take time to get to know them." Moreover, "don't have a critical spirit." Also, Jesus stated in Matthew 22:39 "Love your neighbor as you do yourself." Jesus also demonstrates this message in Luke chapter 19:1-9 when Jesus befriended the Tax collector Zacchaeus. Jesus didn't condemn him; instead he loved him into repentance. That's what we have to do if we're going to live out the destiny God has planned for us. For you see, forgiveness isn't only for the trespasser, it's also for the injured party. A case in point: "When Jesus rose from the dead and came back to talk with His disciples, He said, `If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sin of any, they are retained' (John 20:23 NKJV). When you retain a sin, you hold on to it. God was saying that when you hold on to the wrongs people have done to you, then the poison contaminates you. When you don't forgive, it's easy to become what you hate."There is a lot of pragmatic wisdom throughout this book. God definitely anointed Joel Osteen and he's given him a very difficult assignment by making him the greatest preacher of the modern ages, allowing His message to be propagated through Lakewood Church ministries. What a responsibility and gift!Everyday a Friday as far as I'm concerned is his best work yet. Our world leaders need to read this book and apply it to domestic and world affairs. Whether anyone believes it or not this book is a powerful polemic against nihilism and social disorder. The Republicans and the Democrats need to read this book.
