Unfortunately, this book did not provide the solution that was hoping to find. It may be helpful for a small number of people (those who have obstructed blood flow to the brain stem), but it only covers one aspect with potential to increase vagal tone. For my patients, it was not enough to change their results on the cranial nerve test for the vagus nerve. I was hoping to discover a portal to stimulate the vagus nerve but instead the author provides an indirect route of performing a task to increase blood flow to the brain stem.On the positive side the author does describe the Polyvagal Theory for manual therapists.I came across this book title while searching for info on Dr. Porges and the Polyvagal Theory. I am a doctor of physical therapy and own a physical therapy practice called Muscle IQ. I have been in practice for twenty years and use manual therapy techniques. So, I was able to quickly implement his recommended techniques. The Basic Exercise is one he thought up one night before addressing a group that was not licensed to touch clients. It is similar to the muscle energy technique I use for relocating the Atlas, so he does have good insight regarding manual therapy. But, he is wrong to suggest that correcting the position of the Atlas will turn on the ventral vagus circuit.I have to admit I was excited to find this book, but it was a hard to read at times and repetitive. It reads like a textbook but without enough pictures to keep my interest during the majority of the book. It could have been summarized into a poster presentation. The author Mr. Rosenberg is a highly skilled and experienced massage therapist that started a "school" to teach other massage therapists in Denmark some osteopathic techniques.I have been trying his method to turn the Vagus Nerve on with most all of my patients (and with my son). After following his precise instructions to perform the Basic Exercise (over the last 4 weeks) I have to say that I am disappointed in the results. I have not seen a big change in the uvula lift in most all of my patients and perhaps those that did improve only did so because of practice or as a side affect of putting them into social engagement through our interaction (via co-regulating).I wanted to believe Mr. Rosenberg... that all you need is the Basic Exercise to turn on VENTRAL VAGAL TONE and thereby enter into the physiological state of SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT. He repeatedly writes as if every one of his clients (and students at his workshops) has an abrupt return to normal in the Vagus Nerve test after a two minute exercise.I am highly skeptical regarding the validity Mr. Rosenberg's assumptions. I have come to believe that he may have poor observational skills in regards to comparing the before and after the cranial nerve tests for vagus. I have found that it is common for manual therapy gurus who teach their methods to over-state the effects of their techniques. "All will be cured with my technique in one visit." It is sometimes called "cherry picking" as one guru recommended that we charge a lot for two or three visits with the marketing ploy that the novel method we were using was better than any other.I did love his focus on using manual therapy to make changes in a person's physiological state as using an anatomical perspective is obviously a perfect match for me as a manual therapist. He introduced me to the potential of the esophagus tightening up being a cause of the sensation of tightening in the chest that we might call anxiety. Using the technique he described in the book for this condition help a patient with COPD reduce some of his symptoms. But it was not a cure like the the case he mentions in the book.My conclusion is that more is needed (than what the author describes in this book) to "pump up" vagal tone. I have found other methods that are helping to down regulate my sons "mobilize with fear" state. I think a combination of a variety stimuli for the vagus nerve (Rezzimax tuning device for example), self-talk therapy (especially with guided imagery), manual therapy in the cranial field, diet changes (keto works the best, search "keto Dr. Berg" in Youtube ), yoga breathing (specifically Breathwalk--which is synchronizing steps with segmented breaths of 4 sniffs and 4 puffs), kundalini breath of fire, therapist or parent using a prosodic voice, creating safe environments, EFT meridian tapping, and smile rehab exercises. In other words, more work than most people will be will to do on their own (especially those who are trapped in a defense states of fear).I hope this review helps those who are also on a similar quest to help those we love live a happy, peaceful, untroubled life.

An important book for understanding overall health and wellness. I have struggled with anxiety and depression most of my life. I was recently diagnosed with OCD, and I have been doing a tremendous amount of research over the last three years. Most of the research I have done has uncovered more and more the importance of the vagus nerve. I had never heard of it before three years ago, when I had a serious of debilitating panic attacks and suffered from panic disorder. The understanding that this book provides is revolutionary and so important. Our understanding of medicine in the West has overlooked this crucial part of the Body. So much can he effectively healed and treated with an awareness of the vagus nerve and it's functions. I am so grateful for this book.

I now use "The Basic Exercise" several times a day with very apparent positive effects to reduce overall tension. Other exercises described in the book are helpful as well. Highly recommended.

Book was quite dense for a layperson but after the initial explanatory section, I skipped to the places I needed to read. Within a few minutes of the exercises, my neck and shoulders felt more freed up than they have in years. Will have to continue the practice, hoping for more lasting results.

I’ve been having some vagus nerve issues recently & after countless doctors, reading online, could not find much on our vagus nerve in terms of healing - this book was so amazing & full of best practices, it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. This book also helped me realize issues in interpersonal relationships & why I’ve had issues with certain people based on our own damaged nervous system.

I learned an enormous amount from this book. It's well written, and the theory is grounded in a very practical way. The exercises, all of which you can do yourself, have been eye opening and of great value to me. I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

I am a physician and have been recommending this book to students and patients, so they can understand neuroanatomy a bit better. I also have been helping patients experience The Basic Exercise, clearly delineated in the book, and helping about 50% of the time with patients' anxiety. Pretty great! Thank you, Stanley.

Fantastic book!!! Really great exercises in the back. I am a psychotherapist who works somatically with my clients. I have taught each of my clients the exercises and they have all (literally) had relief from it. So wonderful!!!! Supports a regulated nervous system.

I stumbled across Eddie Coronado's books whilst looking at law of attraction clips on you tube. I read a few books and listened to a few audio books on the subject but I got no results. After the first few days of reading Eddies work and doing to exercises I noticed things starting to happen. I found pennies on the sidewalk, I got good parking spaces and even won a few dollars with the lottery. These books are life changers if you stick to what is written there. I am so grateful for coming across Eddies books! Be Blessed Buddy! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I've studied the LOA for a long time and this book by far is my favorite! It's clear and concise (only took me 2 hours to listen to on Audible) and I was able to outline my own LOA action plan using the advanced tools the author teaches. THANK YOU!!!

I have read all of Mr. Coronado's books on the Law of Attraction, but this is by far is the absolute best! Advanced Law of Attraction has techniques that are easy to follow and to practice. There are personal stories from people he's interviewed who use these amazing manifesting techniques and share their experiences with the reader. The book is presented in 6 parts that delivers every thing it promises. People always say, I have read all about the Law of Attraction, however, if you do not practice the law of attraction, you know nothing about the law of attraction. With this book you definitely get to practice the law of attraction. I loved it!

This is the third book I've bought and read by this author. In Advanced Law Of Attraction Techniques, he gives you complete step by step processes on how to create your desires. I'm just 3 days into putting the Intention Statement and Affirmation Statement into use, and I'm already noticing a positive shift.I have them typed out and in 3 places. One the wall next to my bed so I see them as I get into bed and first thing when I wake up. Secondly on my bathroom mirror so I see them before and after a shower and as I brush my teeth and hair. And lastly, on my vision board. I may even add a fourth copy next to my computer and/or as an image on my windows desktop!I want to see them everywhere where I constantly recite them throughout the day!I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to take the LOA to the next level and create their life's desires.

The practices work, but you have to be dedicated. I got just what I wanted when I said my intention statements.

Had already purchased as an audio book. Decided to buy book to really hone in on techniques and develop my own Action Plan. The techniques are not new, but helped me to formulate a Plan of Action to put the Law of Attraction to work in my life. Hope to report on the results soon.

Mr. Coronado has hit it out of the park with this book ! simple, concise, and complete !! more practical techniques than any other i have seen all rolled into one plan , a plan to win ! thank you sir for putting it all together in a way we can implement TODAY !

I've done a lot of research on the law of attraction and it blew my mind how many sources give you some information but never how to APPLY it; at least not in a complete and structured way. I also love that this book was short and to the point and didn't try to fill it up with a lot of fluff like most books do. If you're like me and you just want clear step by step instructions on how to create a law of attraction plan, this is it!

All the Way to Berlin: A Paratrooper at War in Europe, by James Megellas

From the Inside Flap

In mid-1943 James Megellas, known as "Maggie" to his fellow paratroopers, joined the 82d Airborne Division, his new "home" for the duration. His first taste of combat was in the rugged mountains outside Naples. In October 1943, when most of the 82d departed Italy to prepare for the D-Day invasion of France, Lt. Gen. Mark Clark, the Fifth Army commander, requested that the division's 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Maggie's outfit, stay behind for a daring new operation that would outflank the Nazis' stubborn defensive lines and open the road to Rome. On 22 January 1944, Megellas and the rest of the 504th landed across the beach at Anzio. Following initial success, Fifth Army's amphibious assault, Operation Shingle, bogged down in the face of heavy German counterattacks that threatened to drive the Allies into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Anzio turned into a fiasco, one of the bloodiest Allied operations of the war. Not until April were the remnants of the regiment withdrawn and shipped to England to recover, reorganize, refit, and train for their next mission. In September, Megellas parachuted into Holland along with the rest of the 82d Airborne as part of another star-crossed mission, Field Marshal Montgomery's vainglorious Operation Market Garden. Months of hard combat in Holland were followed by the Battle of the Bulge, and the long hard road across Germany to Berlin. Megellas was the most decorated officer of the 82d Airborne Division and saw more action during the war than most. Yet "All the Way to Berlin is more than just Maggie's World War II memoir. Throughout his narrative, he skillfully interweaves stories of the other paratroopers of H Company, 504th Parachute InfantryRegiment. The result is a remarkable account of men at war. "From the Hardcover edition.

I always wondered who were the first to serve in Berlin as an occupying force, and now I know. I first arrived in Berlin in Sep 1967. I went on to serve in Berlin for 54 months. I have been to freedom bridge were The U-2 piolet Francis Gary Powers was traded for the Russian spy. I was also detailed to guard the last Nazi prisoner Rudolf Hess in Spandau prison. I even met face to face Bob Hope at his 1969 Christmas show. As you can tell Berlin duty was the best assignments of my 20 years.prison

Over the years I have read many accounts of WW II Veterans and they all deserve our respect and awe at what they did during WW II. This book is by far one of the most honest accounts of what a platoon leader and then eventually the Captain of his company accomplished during WW II. If you are looking for a day by day account of a platoon and the story of the men of that platoon this is the book for you. Having spoken to Maggie since I have read the book, we as a country could not be prouder of what he and his men did to accomplish their mission of defeating the Nazis by May of 1945. Thank you sir!!!

Up front I have to say that this book was extraordinary in one incredible respect, Megellas relished killing Germans! Many veterans are coy on this topic for a host of legitimate reasons. Megellas is a clear exception, as he writes, "Our `Military Occupational Speciality' (MOS) became clear: kill our enemy, the German soldier; the alternative was to be killed by our enemy. To become successful in our MOS, we had to develop a profound hatred for certain other human beings". (pg 345) He also includes what he submitted to Cornelius Ryan (for his book `A Bridge too Far'), "We recognised that a job had to be done", by this he meant a grim one, a view he felt typified the airborne, before continuing with, "I found the business of killing and destruction an agreeable accomplishment". Later he regrets that the war in the Pacific ends, as he doesn't get to kill any Japanese! Given the usual tone on this issue, it was astounding to read such forthright statements. So no doubts about it - this is a combat memoir indeed!Megellas, like Moffat Burriss (Strike & Hold), is a member of the 3rd Bn of the 504th Para Regt and his war starts in Italy. He covers a few of the same themes, including the failure of British forces and his company being cut off, yet holding off large numbers of Germans. Megellas writes from his role as an officer, directing fire and breaking up attacks. It was all a bit general, until he mentioned writing to his brother, stating how many Germans he had killed! The 504th, after being rested during Normandy, was involved in Market Garden and Megellas crossed the Waal in that epic action. He includes a few recollections from others and this section reads more like a unit history rather than a memoir. His strongest stuff here though is during the later defensive phase. There is quite a bit on close quarter fighting (killing) and some hair raising night patrols. Indeed, there is some very good stuff on the mechanics of planning and conducting patrols from the point of view of an officer. Again Megellas writes of killing a number of Germans. The most astonishing story though concerns his involvement in the capture of Heeresbach following (during?) the Bulge. It seems his column of two companies was marching in, just as two German columns came marching out - essentially either side of the Americans. Rather than consider themselves surrounded (or outnumbered), the paratroopers attack and completely rout the Germans! It is an incredible action for which Megellas wins the Silver Star. The stunning part of this was that later he corrects an error on his citation by pointing out he actually killed more! Another trooper recalls Megellas running about counting out loud! It is scintillating stuff! Megellas is not boasting though. There is no long winded, blow by blow listing, but it is still one hell of a battle. The other really intriguing thing that was revealed, was Megellas' note that he thought that this now made him the leading `living' killer of enemy soldiers in his regiment. Implying that some sort of semi-official tally was being kept - something quite new to me. I know I've focused on the issue of killing here but the emphasis was just so different in this book compared to other memoirs. Killing is Megellas' business. At times he is quite brutal in how he expresses this. There is no reflecting on the humanity of the enemy or poignant descriptions of how their bodies came to lie. He keeps count but he doesn't mull over it. He just gets the job done and moves on. In mind, as well as body.As I said above, Megellas also includes a lot of accounts from comrades. These are much shorter than those in Burriss' book and don't interrupt the flow of the story as much. They still have the affect of shifting attention away from what Megellas is doing himself though. Again though, the inclusion of all these stories speaks loudly of the camaraderie that existed in the airborne. There is also the point that these men are actually carrying out Megellas' orders, so they do inform the reader of things that Megellas is closely involved in. Overall, these inclusions, usually just paragraphs and passages don't disrupt the flow of Megellas own narrative - indeed in the way he has used them, they mostly enhance it.This is one heck of a war book. Megellas' openness about killing really makes it stand out from the pack. It is well written and engaging and though it lacks the sensitive contemplation of Gantter for instance, there is a different emphasis and tone, it is an utterly compelling memoir of battle. And you are left in no doubt, that if you were a German soldier occupying your part in the line, the last person you would want coming for you, would be James Megellas! Highly recommended.

All Americans today owe a debt to these guys that can never be repaid. We all need to at the very least be grateful, respectful and understand it is now our responsibility to see that what these people fought and died for is not lost.

It's a bit troubling to see a couple of reviewers here complaining about Jim "Maggie" Megellas being "self-serving" and a "blowhard" because he's honest about the 82nd Airborne Division's WWII mission. That mission was to kill Germans and win the war. Maggie was very good at this as was his platoon, the 504 PIR and the 82nd, the greatest Airborne division of all. How else were we to win the war?"All the Way to Berlin" is the best Airborne book I've read and I've read a lot of them including S. Ambrose's "Band of Brothers". I've never understood why Ambrose, who taught at the University of Wisconsin passed up Wisconsin's greatest Airborne hero, Jim Megellas. Not to take anything away from the 101st Airborne, another bunch of terrific, fighting paratroopers, but no one fought harder and longer with less against formidable opposition than the 82nd. And within the 82nd, the 504PIR, 3rd BN, H Company was one of the best.My friend Bill Hannigan from St. Paul went all the way from Africa to Berlin with the 82nd. He became a squad leader in Maggie's platoon and is one of those paratroopers who knows Maggie best. Bill says Maggie was not only the best and bravest at killing Germans. "He cared about all of us. He did things for us. He's been a good man all his life."Bill is one of the dwindling numbers of Maggie's platoon who continues to work for the Medal of Honor which Maggie was originally put in for after his heroism at Herresbach. The platoon killed and captured 100's of Germans during that battle and as they moved into the town, Maggie single-handedly attacked and took out a Mark IV tank that threatened his platoon. This part of the action was somehow deleted from the paperwork as it moved through channels. Maggie then received the Silver Star instead of the requested MOH. Several years ago, Maggie's platoon friends resurrected the original MOH request and it is now the subject of a bill in the House of Representatives.Next month, Maggie - who is now 90 - starts a tour in Iraq where he will begin to deliver thousands of his books to the troops. Last year he visited his beloved 504 in Afghanistan where the troopers gave him and AR and 50 rounds of ammo and took him on patrol. You will see in this great book how Maggie holds paratroopers in special regard. And if you understand paratroopers and the famed 82nd Airborne Division you will know why we love Maggie and this book about our WWII Brothers.Tom Laney, EditorBadger Airborne NewsBadger State Chapter82nd Airborne Division Assoc.
